The sticking point would be the political one. If (as another commenter said) Rome and their western friends would move to a fixed date for Easter, we could repair our equinox date without the unwanted political complications.Fr. But is there any particular reason the Church should insist upon following the pagan Julian calendar rather than the Catholic Gregorian one? Does it not matter that, unless we switch to the more accurate Gregorian calendar, Pascha will in the long term slip increasingly out of alignment with the actual equinox? And for Orthodox types who insist on the need for fasting and spiritual exercise, does it not matter that many churches now have very short (or even non-existent!)
