Perhaps it shows that some of the "occupiers" regard the Church as part of The Establishment (I realize that I date myself by using the term), so that their acts of descrecration are intended as protests against that Establishment. If so, it is added incentive for us Christians to speak the truth and not shrink from indicting not only "occupiers" but also the powerful of the land as well. I think of the Lenten verses for Holy Week (from Isaiah in the LXX), "Bring more evils upon them, O Lord, bring more evils upon the glorious ones of the earth". We need to let the world know that we Christians will oppose evil wherever we find it, even among the glorious and powerful of the earth.Fr. Such as stealing the bronze top of a baptismal font and desecrating another by urinating on a cross.George32578https://www.blogger.com/profile/18350801993763212111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3415815443006499013.post-11024252471280514082012-01-21T08:36:42.296-08:002012-01-21T08:36:42.296-08:00That is a good point. Granted that those days and the culture which made guitar outreach effective are a long time gone, I do think we should recover some of the zeal the Jesus People had to reach out to others.Fr. People who are satisfied with the status quo are not usually open to the gospel. People who dissatisfied with it are more open. And if people have come to a recognition that greed is sinful, to the extent of wanting to publicly protest against it, perhaps there is an opportunity for evangelism. I wonder how many of us have made use of it.Steve Hayeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11283123400540587033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3415815443006499013.post-68230536433336689072012-01-03T09:03:47.361-08:002012-01-03T09:03:47.361-08:00Once again, Father, you have voiced my own sentime...Once again, Father, you have voiced my own sentiments more thoroughly and eloquently than I could myself.Katherine Hydehttp://kbhyde.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
